Marble is one of the most sophisticated and beautiful materials that you can have in your home. This incredible natural stone has traditionally been viewed as a sign of elegance. The material has been used to create everything from marble countertops to some of the most famous statues in the world. The natural beauty the stone exudes is a large part of what makes it so popular among homeowners. But while marble has many positives, it is a porous material – meaning that liquid and stains can easily work their way down into the surface.
Before doing a poultice, we wash the countertop with soap and water. Unfortunately the stains we found earlier in the month didn’t come up so we moved on to a poultice. Here’s a close up of one of the stains - this one was stubborn and required the use of hydrogen peroxide ( we’ll explain that in a second).

Acidic substances are one of marble’s worst enemies. Substances such as lemon juice, orange juice and wine can cause your marble to etch. Etch marks are the result of the top layer of the marble wearing away due to the stain. As i said the cab drivers are usually pretty reasonable at the taxi park. What you shouldn't do is take the blindest bit of notice of sob stories about fuel costs.
If you leave them sitting on the surface, your marble may sustain permanent damages. However, such damages can be avoided if you act quickly. Make a second poultice, this time swapping the water for hydrogen peroxide . Place the poultice on the stain again and leave it overnight to cure. Scrape it off in the morning, wash your countertops, and hopefully you won’t see any signs of that old stain.

DIY // Homemade Marble Stain Remover (aka a poultice)
Most marble stains can be removed by using a homemade solution called a poultice. A poultice is a thick paste that can draw the stain out of your marble. This section will highlight how each of the stains mentioned above can be removed.
In most cases, this will remove the water stains; however, if it doesn’t, you can use a marble cleaner intended to remove hard water stains and soap scum. Make sure that you get a non-acidic rust remover; an acidic rust remover will exacerbate the situation. These stains can be removed with lukewarm or warm water and concentrated ammonia on the first try or after a few applications.

One of the marble’s deadliest foes is acidic materials. Lemon, orange, and wine juices can all etch your marble. The top layer of the marble wears away as a result of the stain, which results in etch lines. The bleach is effective because it kills the mold while also assisting in removing the mold stain that remains after the mold has been removed. You can use a marble cleaner made specifically for mold and mildew stains.

Joinery privacy screen which some may find a bit challenging. The safe in our room did not work which Mr Lionel was aware of. The wifi code listed on the notice inside the wardrobe door is also out of date.

Ink stains are common on marble countertops and other surfaces.
